Expert Business Valuations

Understand the value.
Make your next move.

Independent business valuation advice, informed by financial analysis, market evidence and practical experience. Start with the purpose, then choose the service that fits your decision.

A clear understanding of value.

Understanding what a business is worth supports decisions about buying, selling, ownership and the future. Our valuation work considers business assets and goodwill, with a report explaining the evidence, assumptions and valuation approach.

Common purposes include acquisitions and buyouts, shareholder arrangements, family law and litigation, finance, tax, insurance, and estate or succession planning. The scope starts with the intended purpose and who will rely on the report.

Appraisal or formal valuation?

Start with why you need a value. We’ll help you identify the right next step.

1. Why do you need to know the value?

2. Is independence important, or could the value be challenged?

For example, will someone need to rely on an independent report, or could the value be contested or disputed?

A formal business valuation is the appropriate starting point.

Your stated purpose calls for a discussion about an independent, documented valuation. Expert Business Valuations can confirm the scope, valuation date, intended users and reporting requirements for your matter.

Start with a business appraisal.

An appraisal can provide an indication of the business’s likely sale position to support planning and the sale process. It is not an independent formal valuation. If your purpose changes or another party requires a formal report, let us know before proceeding.

Let’s clarify the purpose first.

We’ll discuss why you need the value, who will rely on it and whether independence or a formal report is required. That will help us recommend an appraisal or refer you to Expert Business Valuations.

The valuation process

Gather business documents, speak with the owners and examine the industry, economic conditions and relevant risks.

Review financial performance, market trends and comparable sales evidence. Assess opportunities and risks, then select an appropriate valuation approach.

03 / Valuation

Bring the analysis together in a documented conclusion, explaining the supporting evidence and preparing the valuation report.
